DAY 14
Departure and Reflections on my trip to Yemen

Woke up exactly at 6 am after some strange dreams. Come to think of it, I've had lots of strange dreams while here - maybe the effects of qat?!

So I'm on the plane. I just watched Aida's little Ethiopian Airways jet take off. The airport was such fawda. Thank god we had Saleh with us from CCC to help us out with the extra weight, passport control, etc. Nabil seemed bummed that we were leaving. Although he's lived here for nine years, he doesn't like it much and doesn't have many friends. He liked it that we stayed with him and brought him some adventures. It's sad though to see him through the glass partition as he watches us leave.

The trip to Yemen is over. I don't think I've formulated any thought about it all yet. I would certainly love to return to see the places we didn't have time to go to, as well as return to some others for longer periods of time.

One thing is for sure though, next time I travel I'll have to remember to bring a Polaroid camera to give pictures to the kids.
